Toxaphene, a persistent organic pollutant, is an insecticide and arcaricide that is most often used in cotton cultivation. Toxaphene is not a single compound but a mixture of over 177 congeners, some of which are reported to change over time, depending on storage and ground conditions. Analytical data for certification was obtained using USEPA SW846, 3rd edition extraction methods 3540B/3541 (soxhlet) and 3550A (sonication). Analysis was carried out according to USEPA method 8081 (Pesticides by GC). The samples are intended for use in analytical systems using these and related methods.
