The VOA Contaminated Soil Certified Reference Material (CRM) sample consists of a single sample vial containing approximately 30 grams of material. This soil is a composite sample requiring no spiking or fortification and is intended to be analyzed "as-is". Being a composite sample the analyst is challenged by the same preparation problems, analytical interferences, etc. as is typical for similar matrices received by the laboratory for analysis. The sample has been sterilized and packed with an intentional inert head-space. This CRM meets the requirements of NELAC PT Fields of Testing, RCRA-Solid Jun-00 for Volatiles. Rigorous analyses identified, quantified and certified the 15 compounds with the values listed on the enclosed Certificate of Analysis. The sample has been analyzed by 23 independent laboratories in a multi-laboratory round robin to meet the requirements specified by the EPA/AALA RM-03 and ISO Guides 34 and 35. The sample was certified by USEPA SW846, 3rd edition Method 8260B using the low soil concentration procedure and is suitable for use by this and other similar methods.
