PEP-011-A Loss on Drying (LOD) - Sample A
General Instructions
Dry a glass-stoppered, shallow weighing bottle for 30 minutes under the same conditions as designated for the sample. Tare the stoppered bottle. Add the test specimen, in the approximate designated amount, to the bottle and accurately weigh. Spread the sample as evenly as is practical in the weighing bottle. Place the bottle in the drying chamber and remove the stopper leaving it in the drying chamber. Dry the sample according to the conditions stated. For heated samples, cool in a desiccator. Weigh the stoppered bottle containing the sample. Calculate the % loss.
Sample A Instructions
Conditions: 105 °C for 1 hour
Approx Wt.: 1 g
Expected Range: 1 to 15%
