SPE011-100G Cyanide in Soil

Description

The PT sample contains acid-soluble cyanide. Sulfide is now in sample SPE-102 and Fluoride in SPE-013. If you normally run these analytes contact RTC and a sample will be supplied at no charge during our transition.

A fortifying spike and a blank soil are provided.

The PT sample has been sterilized.

Recommended storage condition is 4º C.

The evaluation of results will be based on study statistics for equivalent methods. This sample is not suitable for reactive cyanide/sulfide methods.

Sample Preparation

The soil is to be extracted and analyzed using an appropriate extraction and analytical method for cyanide, assuming a 25g sample will contain sufficient cyanide for determination.

Cyanide is temperature and light sensitive. Minimize contact to these conditions.

The sample has been buffered to stabilize cyanide. Some methods may require a pH adjustment to 7 prior to analysis.

Weigh 25g of the blank soil and place in extraction vessel. Open ampule and add 1mL of solution directly to the blank soil. The sample is now ready for immediate analysis.

On the report form, please list the determinative technique used for analysis of this sample.

Report your results based on 25 grams of soil, as mg/Kg of soil. Do not correct the analytical results for matrix spike recovery bias. If multiple methods are used for preparation and/or analysis, a separate report form must be used for each preparation and analysis method.

Screening Instructions: Screen sample according to your normal method. Report as a “<” or “>” and your screen concentration on the report form.
