The PT sample size provided is 25 g of soil.

The soil has been preserved with 25 mL of methanol.

The PT sample has been sized to 100 mesh.

The evaluation of result will be based on windows determined by ADEC.

The sample was fortified with BTEX components to be extracted and analyzed using method AK101. This sample can also be analyzed by other methods including but not limited to EPA 8021 and IOWA OA-1.

This sample can also be analyzed for MTBE and trimethylbenzenes. If you wish to report these analytes and they are not listed on your report form, contact RTC for additional forms.

Sample Preparation

The 25 g soil sample is preserved in 25 mL methanol.

Report results on a wet weight basis.

All analytes are reported in mg/Kg.

PE1608-2ML BTEX in Water - AK Methods

Description

This PT sample is packaged as a 1.5 mL concentrate.

The solvent for This sample is methanol.

The PT sample is not preserved.

Preparation Instructions

Fill a 100 mL Class A Volumetric Flask with 90 mL of organic free reagent water.

Allow the ampule concentrate to equilibrate to room temperature.

Open the ampule and pipet exactly 20 µL of the concentrate into the flask.

Fill to volume.

Stopper the flask and mix by gentle inversion 3 times. Excessive mixing will result in loss of volatiles and should be avoided.

This represents the sample for analysis.

SPE007AK-100G Diesel in Soil - AK

Sample Description

The PT sample size provided is 100 g of soil.  Recommended minimum sample size is 10 grams.

The soil has been chemically stabilized to minimize degradation of the sample.

The PT sample has been sized to 100 mesh.

The sample has been intentionally prepared with an apparent headspace.

The sample is suitable for gravimetric, GC, and IR methods.

The carbon chain of interest is C10 to C25.

If you analyze for a different range as dictated by your analysis method you must indicate that range on the report form.

Sample Preparation

Mix prior to use.

The sample is a soil containing Diesel Range Organics (DRO) to be extracted and analyzed using the methods for which you are seeking accreditation.

On the report form, list the extraction technique and determinative method used for analysis of this sample.

Report on a dry weight basis.

PE1779-2ML Diesel in Water - AK Methods

Description

This ampule contains a concentrate of a No. 2 Diesel in methanol.

This PT sample is packaged as a 1.5 mL concentrate.

The solvent for this sample is methanol.

The PT sample is not preserved.

Preparation Instructions

To prepare solution, fill a 1000-mL volumetric flask to volume with carbon-filtered reagent-grade water at room temperature.

Open ampule PE1779-2ML (be careful to avoid cuts on glass) and immediately withdraw 1 mL.

Quickly inject the 1 mL aliquot into the reagent water in the expanded area of the volumetric flask.

Mix the sample by inverting the flask three times only and analyze immediately. Diesel is reported in µg/L.

NOTE: This sample may be used for method AK102 SV (small volume). To ensure sample integrity, RTC recommends preparing the same small volume as you normally test. For instance, if your small volume sample is 125 mL, the PT should be diluted 125 uL of concentrate to 125 mL of water (1:1000 dilution).
